About Allison Wood

Allison L. Wood is Principal of Legal Ethics Consulting, P.C. in Chicago. She is unique in that she spent a decade in private practice before serving as both a Hearing Board Chair and as Litigation Counsel with the disciplinary agency in Illinois, known as the ARDC. Motivated by a strong desire to help lawyers, she established her firm in 2011. She represents lawyers in all phases of professional misconduct matters before the ARDC; counsels law graduates before the Character & Fitness Committee; and provides expert testimony in legal malpractice cases.

Ms. Wood has a passion for serving the legal profession and she spends a great deal of her time serving on boards and committees. She is a current member of the Illinois Supreme Court Standing Committee on Professional Responsibility; and the Equal Justice Rules Committee created by the ARDC to ascertain if the ethical rules governing Illinois attorneys might be revised to address discriminatory conduct. She is a former member of the Board of Managers of the Chicago Bar Association, the ABA Standing Committee on Lawyers’ Professional Liability, the ABA Standing Committee on Ethics and Professional Responsibility, and the Illinois Bar Association Standing Committee on Professional Conduct.

She is a frequent speaker and Certified MCLE Ethics provider of ethics programming. She has been an adjunct professor at various area law schools where she taught pre-trial, trial, and professional responsibility courses.
